I am Brianna Galeas, L.I.T. president and proof that no matter how dark the situation a light will always be there to guide you. In this case the light is The Club.

Studies show that young people who engage in service do better in school, maintain positive relationships with adults and avoid risky behaviors. Our programs help members develop leadership skills and contribute to their Club, community and their futures.
M.I.T. – Managers in Training
A program that teaches and promotes civic engagement, management and leadership skills. Members’ personal skills and interests are considered in creating and implementing each program. Candidates go through an interview process and commit to monthly meetings. M.I.T.’s are the Club’s mentors and dedicate their time to mentoring their younger peers and are heavily involved in Club events.
L.I.T. – Leaders in Training
An umbrella program which encompasses all 8-12th programming in the areas of academic enrichment, social recreation, career guidance, and service to the community. Through these activities, team members learn leadership skills and qualities that help them become productive and effective members of society.
Monthly meetings focus on practicing activities to excel in these key areas. LIT members support running BGCM programs, community event involvement, and perform community service hours.
Assists in career exploration, college and job search information, providing appropriate supportive, interactive activities including training and the tools needed to succeed in the workplace, college & future careers.
Participants learn how to a write resume, cover and thank you letters, as well as interviewing and public speaking skills.
Summer internships are available for 8-12th graders, through our partners with local Malibu businesses.
A year-long leadership & service club for members in grades 6-8th grade. They learn to elect officers & work together to implement community service projects for The Club & community.
Initiatives are based on member interests and have included such initiatives as a fundraiser for the ASPCA, holding a bake sale for new club helmets & skateboards.
Members are the main organizers for Valentine’s Day and Halloween festivities.
A student-led year-long program for 9-12th grade members that teaches leadership through serving others. Members tutor elementary school children, as well as hold holiday toy drives, canned food drives, and multi-cultural week.
Youth of The Year
Youth of the Year celebrates teens whose Club experience has empowered them to find their voice and achieve success through afterschool experiences rooted in what matters to them most – choice, access and passion.
One youth is selected to represent our Boys & Girls Club and join their counterparts from across the country to enter the National Youth of the Year scholarship program.
We’re proud to share that in the last 7 yrs, The Boys & Girls Club of Malibu has had 4 finalists and 1 state winner in this highly competitive forum!
A year-long job training program for 9-12th grade teens with leadership and specialized skills who strive for being positive role models within the club. Incentives include community service hours, field trips to theme parks, camping trips and more!
A year long environmental based team for youth in 6-8th grade with project initiatives to increase awareness of environmental issues and solutions.
GreenTeen members help maintain the Club garden, past projects have included beach cleanups, removing plastic bags from our local Malibu, and working alongside the Monarch Butterfly Society to learn how to save the monarch butterfly species.
